We are here to inform you how to avoid a Craigslist RV Consignment Scam
We have heard countless stories of individuals attempting to sell their RV on Craigslist and being solicited by a scam RV Consignment dealer. To sell an RV on Consignment a dealer must have a Texas Franchise RV Dealer license. These scammers claim to be able to sell your RV at no cost to you. They will promise you and make you give them your best price, then convince you that “book out” or blue book says your unit is worth much more. They will sell the unit for an inflated price, and you will get the scraps if anything at all. All too many times the scam consigner will never license the RV in the new buyer’s name leaving you exposed to liability untold. In many cases where a balance is owed to the bank the scammer will not pay the bank and leave you with the note. Your credit will be destroyed while someone else enjoys the great outdoors in your RV.
How do you prevent being a scammer cosigner victim?
Always ask your consigner’s name. Do a quick Google search of their name to make sure they are not a front page scammer. Then always check the company’s Facebook page. People are honest when reviewing company services on Facebook. You should know in just a few seconds if your dealer is a scammer by the posts and reviews on Facebook. If they have no reviews, it’s possible they closed their page to feedback due to negative reviews. Lastly, ask to be shown a copy of the Texas Franchise RV Dealers License. Dealers are required to display them in their office in full view.
